Emily Walker, RSW, MSW
She/Her
Emily is a registered social worker specializing in working with adolescents and their families, queer and
gender diverse humans, non-traditional family systems, and people struggling with self-harm and suicidal thoughts. She has extensive experience in working with folks struggling with depression, anxiety
disorders, ADHD, ODD, trauma, young parenting and post-abortion support.
Emily is a cisgender, bisexual, white woman with lived experience of mental health, trauma, and neurodivergence. Emily lives in Thorold with her wife, three terribly behaved kitties, and occasionally a
young person or two as an active foster parent. In her free time, Emily loves to knit, cook (and eat!), read comic books, and play cooperative video games with her wife.
Emily has previously worked in the adult and youth shelter systems, the carceral system, men/women’s anti-violence programming, young parenting programs, and within the children’s mental health sector. For the past few years, her passion for working with youth and families has led her to focus on individual and family therapy around various mental health and substance use concerns. Emily particularly enjoys working with people of all ages in addressing intergenerational family cycles, and with parents requiring
their own therapeutic and/or parenting support.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Social Work from McMaster University, a Concurrent Disorders certificate from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and a Master of Social Work from York University. She
is a life-long learner and is currently on a deep dive into somatic approaches in therapy.
